    Newcastle Disease

    An acute febrile, contagious, viral disease of birds caused by a Paramyxovirus (NEWCASTLE DISEASE VIRUS). It is characterized by respiratory and nervous symptoms in fowl and is transmissible to man causing a severe, but transient conjunctivitis. (NLM, Medical Subject Headings)
