“Catūhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye. Katamehi catūhi? Pāṇātipātī hoti, adinnādāyī hoti, kāmesumicchācārī hoti, musāvādī hoti—imehi kho, bhikkhave, catūhi dhammehi samannāgato yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ nirayeti.

“Bhikkhus, someone with four qualities is cast down to hell. What four? They kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, and lie. Someone with these four qualities is cast down to hell.

Pāṇātipāto adinnādānaṁ, Musāvādo ca vuccati; Paradāragamanañcāpi, Nappasaṁsanti paṇḍitā”ti.

Killing, stealing, telling lies, and visiting others’ wives: astute people don’t praise these things.”

    Catutthaṁ.
