    निरयसुत्त

    Nirayasutta

    Hell

    “पञ्चहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो यथाभतं निक्खित्तो एवं निरये। कतमेहि पञ्चहि? पाणातिपाती होति, अदिन्नादायी होति, कामेसुमिच्छाचारी होति, मुसावादी होति, सुरामेरयमज्जपमादट्ठायी होति। इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो यथाभतं निक्खित्तो एवं निरये।

    “Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye. Katamehi pañcahi? Pāṇātipātī hoti, adinnādāyī hoti, kāmesumicchācārī hoti, musāvādī hoti, surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhāyī hoti. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye.

    “Bhikkhus, someone with five qualities is cast down to hell. What five? They kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, and use alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. Someone with these five qualities is cast down to hell.

    पञ्चहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो यथाभतं निक्खित्तो एवं सग्गे। कतमेहि पञ्चहि? पाणातिपाता पटिविरतो होति, अदिन्नादाना पटिविरतो होति, कामेसुमिच्छाचारा पटिविरतो होति, मुसावादा पटिविरतो होति, सुरामेरयमज्जपमादट्ठाना पटिविरतो होति। इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो यथाभतं निक्खित्तो एवं सग्गे”ति।

    Someone with five qualities is raised up to heaven What five? They don’t kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, or use alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. Someone with these five qualities is raised up to heaven.”
