Nocardia otitidiscaviarum
Definition 1
A species of aerobic, Gram-positive, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Actinobacteria. This species is nonmotile, catalase and urease positive, reduces nitrate, hydrolyzes esculin, hypoxanthine, and xanthine, but not casein, elastin, testosterone, or tyrosine. N. otitidiscaviarum is found in soil and has only been associated with a few cases of nocardiosis. (NCI Thesaurus)
