    Non-Receptor Type Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase

A group of cytosolic enzymes that specifically remove tyrosine-bound phosphate groups from many phosphoproteins, including many enzymes phosphorylated by a tyrosine kinase. These proteins play a role in the modulation of tyrosine phosphorylation and dephosphorylation in cellular signaling pathways. (NCI Thesaurus)
