    Osteopontin Staining Method

    An immunohistochemical procedure for identification of osteopontin, a highly phosphorylated, calcium binding sialoprotein. Elevation in osteopontin levels are seen during sepsis and metastatic cancers. It is used as a tumor marker. (NCI Thesaurus)
