“नाहं, भिक्खवे, अञ्ञं एकधम्मम्पि समनुपस्सामि यो एवं महतो अनत्थाय संवत्तति यथयिदं, भिक्खवे, पमादो। पमादो, भिक्खवे, महतो अनत्थाय संवत्तती”ति।
“Nāhaṁ, bhikkhave, aññaṁ ekadhammampi samanupassāmi yo evaṁ mahato anatthāya saṁvattati yathayidaṁ, bhikkhave, pamādo. Pamādo, bhikkhave, mahato anatthāya saṁvattatī”ti.
“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very harmful as negligence. Negligence is very harmful.”

“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very beneficial as diligence. Diligence is very beneficial.”

“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very harmful as laziness. Laziness is very harmful.”

“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very beneficial as arousing energy. Arousing energy is very beneficial.”

“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very harmful as having many wishes. Having many wishes is very harmful.”

“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very harmful as lack of contentment. Lack of contentment is very harmful.”

“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very beneficial as contentment. Contentment is very beneficial.”

“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very beneficial as rational application of mind. Rational application of mind is very beneficial.”

“Nāhaṁ, bhikkhave, aññaṁ ekadhammampi samanupassāmi yo evaṁ mahato anatthāya saṁvattati yathayidaṁ, bhikkhave, anuyogo akusalānaṁ dhammānaṁ, ananuyogo kusalānaṁ dhammānaṁ. Anuyogo, bhikkhave, akusalānaṁ dhammānaṁ, ananuyogo kusalānaṁ dhammānaṁ mahato anatthāya saṁvattatī”ti.
“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very harmful as pursuing bad habits and not good habits. Pursuing bad habits and not good habits is very harmful.”

“Nāhaṁ, bhikkhave, aññaṁ ekadhammampi samanupassāmi yo evaṁ mahato atthāya saṁvattati yathayidaṁ, bhikkhave, anuyogo kusalānaṁ dhammānaṁ, ananuyogo akusalānaṁ dhammānaṁ. Anuyogo, bhikkhave, kusalānaṁ dhammānaṁ, ananuyogo akusalānaṁ dhammānaṁ mahato atthāya saṁvattatī”ti.
“Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that is so very beneficial as pursuing good habits and not bad habits. Pursuing good habits and not bad habits is very beneficial.”
