    Five Precepts

    “पञ्चहि, अनुरुद्ध, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो मातुगामो कायस्स भेदा परं मरणा सुगतिं सग्गं लोकं उपपज्जति। कतमेहि पञ्चहि? पाणातिपाता पटिविरतो च होति, अदिन्नादाना पटिविरतो च होति, कामेसुमिच्छाचारा पटिविरतो च होति, मुसावादा पटिविरतो च होति, सुरामेरयमज्जप्पमादट्ठाना पटिविरतो च होति—इमेहि खो, अनुरुद्ध, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो मातुगामो कायस्स भेदा परं मरणा सुगतिं सग्गं लोकं उपपज्जती”ति।

    “Pañcahi, anuruddha, dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā sugatiṁ saggaṁ lokaṁ upapajjati. Katamehi pañcahi? Pāṇātipātā paṭivirato ca hoti, adinnādānā paṭivirato ca hoti, kāmesumicchācārā paṭivirato ca hoti, musāvādā paṭivirato ca hoti, surāmerayamajjappamādaṭṭhānā paṭivirato ca hoti—imehi kho, anuruddha, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato mātugāmo kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā sugatiṁ saggaṁ lokaṁ upapajjatī”ti.

    “Anuruddha, when females have five qualities, when their body breaks up, after death, they are reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm. What five? They don’t kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, or consume alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. When females have these five qualities, when their body breaks up, after death, they are reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm.”

    तस्सुद्दानं

    Tassuddānaṁ

    दुतिये च अक्कोधनो, अनुपनाही अनिस्सुकी; अमच्छरी अनतिचारी, सीलवा च बहुस्सुतो; वीरियं सति सीलञ्च, सुक्कपक्खे पकासितो।

    Dutiye ca1 akkodhano, anupanāhī anissukī; Amaccharī anaticārī, sīlavā ca bahussuto; Vīriyaṁ sati sīlañca, sukkapakkhe pakāsito.
