    “चतूहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि असमन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया पपतितोऽति वुच्चति। कतमेहि चतूहि? अरियेन, भिक्खवे, सीलेन असमन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया पपतितोऽति वुच्चति। अरियेन, भिक्खवे, समाधिना असमन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया पपतितोऽति वुच्चति। अरियाय, भिक्खवे, पञ्ञाय असमन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया पपतितोऽति वुच्चति। अरियाय, भिक्खवे, विमुत्तिया असमन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया पपतितोऽति वुच्चति। इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, चतूहि धम्मेहि असमन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया पपतितोऽति वुच्चति।

    “Catūhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi asamannāgato ‘imasmā dhammavinayā papatito’ti vuccati. Katamehi catūhi? Ariyena, bhikkhave, sīlena asamannāgato ‘imasmā dhammavinayā papatito’ti vuccati. Ariyena, bhikkhave, samādhinā asamannāgato ‘imasmā dhammavinayā papatito’ti vuccati. Ariyāya, bhikkhave, paññāya asamannāgato ‘imasmā dhammavinayā papatito’ti vuccati. Ariyāya, bhikkhave, vimuttiyā asamannāgato ‘imasmā dhammavinayā papatito’ti vuccati. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, catūhi dhammehi asamannāgato ‘imasmā dhammavinayā papatito’ti vuccati.

    “Someone without four things is said to have ‘fallen from this teaching and training’. What four? Noble ethics, immersion, wisdom, and freedom. Someone without these four things is said to have ‘fallen from this teaching and training’.

    चतूहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया अपपतितोऽति वुच्चति। कतमेहि चतूहि? अरियेन, भिक्खवे, सीलेन समन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया अपपतितोऽति वुच्चति। अरियेन, भिक्खवे, समाधिना समन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया अपपतितोऽति वुच्चति। अरियाय, भिक्खवे, पञ्ञाय समन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया अपपतितोऽति वुच्चति। अरियाय, भिक्खवे, विमुत्तिया समन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया अपपतितोऽति वुच्चति। इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, चतूहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो ‘इमस्मा धम्मविनया अपपतितोऽति वुच्चतीति।

Ariyāya, bhikkhave, vimuttiyā samannāgato ‘imasmā dhammavinayā apapatito’ti vuccati. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, catūhi dhammehi samannāgato ‘imasmā dhammavinayā apapatito’ti vuccatīti.

    Someone with four things is said to be ‘secure in this teaching and training’. What four? Noble ethics, immersion, wisdom, and freedom. Someone with these four things is said to be ‘secure in this teaching and training’.

    चुता पतन्ति पतिता, गिद्धा च पुनरागता; कतं किच्चं रतं रम्मं, सुखेनान्वागतं सुखन्”ति।

    Cutā patanti patitā, giddhā ca punarāgatā; Kataṁ kiccaṁ rataṁ rammaṁ, sukhenānvāgataṁ sukhan”ti.

    They fall, collapsed and fallen; greedy, they return. The work is done, the joyful is enjoyed, happiness is found through happiness.”
