    Papilloma of the Mouse Skin

Polypoid squamous lesion without evidence of invasion or desmoplasia. Lesions with a crateriform growth pattern on a polypoid stalk have occasionally been diagnosed as keratoacanthoma. The pathology panel recommends avoiding the use of the diagnosis of keratoacanthoma, as it has been applied to a variety of lesions (papillomas, well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma with a crateriform growth pattern and certain breast lesions). (NCI Thesaurus/MMHCC)
