    “चत्तारिमानि, भिक्खवे, कम्मानि मया सयं अभिञ्ञा सच्छिकत्वा पवेदितानि। कतमानि चत्तारि?

    “Cattārimāni, bhikkhave, kammāni mayā sayaṁ abhiññā sacchikatvā paveditāni. Katamāni cattāri?

    “Bhikkhus, I declare these four kinds of deeds, having realized them with my own insight. What four?

      अत्थि, भिक्खवे, कम्मं कण्हं कण्हविपाकं;

      Atthi, bhikkhave, kammaṁ kaṇhaṁ kaṇhavipākaṁ;

      There are dark deeds with dark results;

    अत्थि, भिक्खवे, कम्मं सुक्कं सुक्कविपाकं;

    atthi, bhikkhave, kammaṁ sukkaṁ sukkavipākaṁ;

    bright deeds with bright results;

    अत्थि, भिक्खवे, कम्मं कण्हसुक्कं कण्हसुक्कविपाकं;

    atthi, bhikkhave, kammaṁ kaṇhasukkaṁ kaṇhasukkavipākaṁ;

    dark and bright deeds with dark and bright results; and

    अत्थि, भिक्खवे, कम्मं अकण्हअसुक्कं अकण्हअसुक्कविपाकं कम्मक्खयाय संवत्तति।

    atthi, bhikkhave, kammaṁ akaṇhaasukkaṁ akaṇhaasukkavipākaṁ kammakkhayāya saṁvattati.

    neither dark nor bright deeds with neither dark nor bright results, which lead to the ending of deeds.

    कतमञ्च, भिक्खवे, कम्मं कण्हं कण्हविपाकं? इध, भिक्खवे, एकच्चो पाणातिपाती होति, अदिन्नादायी होति, कामेसुमिच्छाचारी होति, मुसावादी होति, सुरामेरयमज्जपमादट्ठायी होति। इदं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, कम्मं कण्हं कण्हविपाकं।

    Katamañca, bhikkhave, kammaṁ kaṇhaṁ kaṇhavipākaṁ? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco pāṇātipātī hoti, adinnādāyī hoti, kāmesumicchācārī hoti, musāvādī hoti, surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhāyī hoti. Idaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, kammaṁ kaṇhaṁ kaṇhavipākaṁ.

    And what are the dark deeds with dark results? It’s when someone kills living creatures, steals, commits sexual misconduct, lies, and uses alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. These are called dark deeds with dark results.

    कतमञ्च, भिक्खवे, कम्मं सुक्कं सुक्कविपाकं? इध, भिक्खवे, एकच्चो पाणातिपाता पटिविरतो होति, अदिन्नादाना पटिविरतो होति, कामेसुमिच्छाचारा पटिविरतो होति, मुसावादा पटिविरतो होति, सुरामेरयमज्जपमादट्ठाना पटिविरतो होति। इदं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, कम्मं सुक्कं सुक्कविपाकं।

    Katamañca, bhikkhave, kammaṁ sukkaṁ sukkavipākaṁ? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco pāṇātipātā paṭivirato hoti, adinnādānā paṭivirato hoti, kāmesumicchācārā paṭivirato hoti, musāvādā paṭivirato hoti, surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhānā paṭivirato hoti. Idaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, kammaṁ sukkaṁ sukkavipākaṁ.

    And what are bright deeds with bright results? It’s when someone doesn’t kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, or use alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. These are called bright deeds with bright results.

    कतमञ्च, भिक्खवे, कम्मं कण्हसुक्कं कण्हसुक्कविपाकं? इध, भिक्खवे, एकच्चो सब्याबज्झम्पि अब्याबज्झम्पि कायसङ्खारं अभिसङ्खरोति …पे… इदं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, कम्मं कण्हसुक्कं कण्हसुक्कविपाकं।

    Katamañca, bhikkhave, kammaṁ kaṇhasukkaṁ kaṇhasukkavipākaṁ? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco sabyābajjhampi abyābajjhampi kāyasaṅkhāraṁ abhisaṅkharoti …pe… idaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, kammaṁ kaṇhasukkaṁ kaṇhasukkavipākaṁ.

    And what are dark and bright deeds with dark and bright results? It’s when someone makes both hurtful and pleasing choices by way of body, speech, and mind. These are called dark and bright deeds with dark and bright results.

    कतमञ्च, भिक्खवे, कम्मं अकण्हअसुक्कं अकण्हअसुक्कविपाकं कम्मक्खयाय संवत्तति? तत्र, भिक्खवे, यमिदं कम्मं कण्हं कण्हविपाकं …पे… इदं वुच्चति, भिक्खवे, कम्मं अकण्हअसुक्कं अकण्हअसुक्कविपाकं कम्मक्खयाय संवत्तति।

    Katamañca, bhikkhave, kammaṁ akaṇhaasukkaṁ akaṇhaasukkavipākaṁ kammakkhayāya saṁvattati? Tatra, bhikkhave, yamidaṁ kammaṁ kaṇhaṁ kaṇhavipākaṁ …pe… idaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, kammaṁ akaṇhaasukkaṁ akaṇhaasukkavipākaṁ kammakkhayāya saṁvattati.

    And what are neither dark nor bright deeds with neither dark nor bright results, which lead to the ending of deeds? It’s the intention to give up dark deeds with dark results, bright deeds with bright results, and both dark and bright deeds with both dark and bright results. These are called neither dark nor bright deeds with neither dark nor bright results, which lead to the ending of deeds.

    इमानि खो, भिक्खवे, चत्तारि कम्मानि मया सयं अभिञ्ञा सच्छिकत्वा पवेदितानी”ति।

    Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri kammāni mayā sayaṁ abhiññā sacchikatvā paveditānī”ti.

    These are the four kinds of deeds that I declare, having realized them with my own insight.”

    चतुत्थं।
