Quantitative Reverse Transcriptase PCR

Quantitative PCR: a method to measure very small amounts of RNA transcripts as cDNA targets. There are two strategies currently used, one is called Competitive RTPCR and the other is called Real-Time PCR. (NCI Thesaurus)
Definition 2
A modified polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique in which RNA sequences are reverse transcribed into complementary DNA (cDNA) transcripts by the enzyme reverse transcriptase. The cDNA is then amplified by a PCR reaction and quantified by comparing to a standard, using fluorescent probes. (NCI Thesaurus/CDISC)
