Desirable
“पञ्चहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो थेरो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं अप्पियो च होति अमनापो च अगरु च अभावनीयो च। कतमेहि पञ्चहि? रजनीये रज्जति, दुस्सनीये दुस्सति, मोहनीये मुय्हति, कुप्पनीये कुप्पति, मदनीये मज्जति—इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो थेरो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं अप्पियो च होति अमनापो च अगरु च अभावनीयो च।
“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato thero bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ appiyo ca hoti amanāpo ca agaru ca abhāvanīyo ca. Katamehi pañcahi? Rajanīye rajjati, dussanīye1 dussati, mohanīye muyhati, kuppanīye kuppati, madanīye majjati—imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato thero bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ appiyo ca hoti amanāpo ca agaru ca abhāvanīyo ca.
“Bhikkhus, a senior bhikkhu with five qualities is unlikable and unlovable to their spiritual companions, not respected or admired. What five? They desire the desirable, they hate the hateful, they’re deluded by the delusory, they’re annoyed by the annoying, and they’re intoxicated by the intoxicating. A senior bhikkhu with these five qualities is unlikable and unlovable by their spiritual companions, not respected or admired.
