    RAS-Related Protein R-RAS2

Encoded by human RRAS2 Gene (RAS GTPase Family), ubiquitous 204-aa 23-kDa RAS-Related Protein R-RAS2 is a plasma membrane-associated GTP-binding GTPase that may transduce growth inhibitory signals by exerting an antagonistic effect on a RAS effector. RRAS2 may be posttranslationally modified by palmitoylation and polyisoprenylation. Attachment to the inner surface of plasma membrane may require acylation of a C-terminal cysteine. RRAS2 defects can cause ovarian tumors. (NCI Thesaurus)
