Rydapt

Pronunciation

A drug used with cytarabine and daunorubicin to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that has a mutated (changed) form of a gene called FLT3. It is also used to treat mast cell leukemia (a very rare type of leukemia) and systemic mastocytosis (a rare condition in which there are too many mast cells in the body). It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Rydapt blocks certain proteins, which may help keep cancer cells from growing and may kill them. It may also prevent the growth of new blood vessels that tumors need to grow. Rydapt is a type of protein kinase inhibitor and a type of antiangiogenesis agent.
