“पञ्चहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो भिक्खु अलंसाकच्छो सब्रह्मचारीनं। कतमेहि पञ्चहि?
“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu alaṁsākaccho sabrahmacārīnaṁ. Katamehi pañcahi?
“Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu with five qualities is fit to hold a discussion with their spiritual companions. What five?
इध, भिक्खवे, भिक्खु अत्तना च सीलसम्पन्नो होति, सीलसम्पदाय कथाय च आगतं पञ्हं ब्याकत्ता होति;
Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu attanā ca sīlasampanno hoti, sīlasampadāya kathāya ca āgataṁ pañhaṁ byākattā hoti;
A bhikkhu is personally accomplished in ethics, and answers questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in ethics.
अत्तना च समाधिसम्पन्नो होति, समाधिसम्पदाय कथाय च आगतं पञ्हं ब्याकत्ता होति;
attanā ca samādhisampanno hoti, samādhisampadāya kathāya ca āgataṁ pañhaṁ byākattā hoti;
They’re personally accomplished in immersion, and they answer questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in immersion.
अत्तना च पञ्ञासम्पन्नो होति, पञ्ञासम्पदाय कथाय च आगतं पञ्हं ब्याकत्ता होति;
attanā ca paññāsampanno hoti, paññāsampadāya kathāya ca āgataṁ pañhaṁ byākattā hoti;
They’re personally accomplished in wisdom, and they answer questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in wisdom.
अत्तना च विमुत्तिसम्पन्नो होति, विमुत्तिसम्पदाय कथाय च आगतं पञ्हं ब्याकत्ता होति;
attanā ca vimuttisampanno hoti, vimuttisampadāya kathāya ca āgataṁ pañhaṁ byākattā hoti;
They’re personally accomplished in freedom, and they answer questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in freedom.
अत्तना च विमुत्तिञाणदस्सनसम्पन्नो होति, विमुत्तिञाणदस्सनसम्पदाय कथाय च आगतं पञ्हं ब्याकत्ता होति।
attanā ca vimuttiñāṇadassanasampanno hoti, vimuttiñāṇadassanasampadāya kathāya ca āgataṁ pañhaṁ byākattā hoti.
They’re personally accomplished in the knowledge and vision of freedom, and they answer questions that come up when discussing accomplishment in the knowledge and vision of freedom.
इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो भिक्खु अलंसाकच्छो सब्रह्मचारीनन्”ति।
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu alaṁsākaccho sabrahmacārīnan”ti.
A bhikkhu with these five qualities is fit to hold a discussion with their spiritual companions.”
