    Immersion

    “तिस्सो इमा, भिक्खवे, वेदना। कतमा तिस्सो?

    “Tisso imā, bhikkhave, vedanā. Katamā tisso?

    “Bhikkhus, there are these three feelings. What three?

    सुखा वेदना, दुक्खा वेदना, अदुक्खमसुखा वेदना—इमा खो, भिक्खवे, तिस्सो वेदनाति।

    Sukhā vedanā, dukkhā vedanā, adukkhamasukhā vedanā—imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso vedanāti.

    Pleasant, painful, and neutral feeling. These are the three feelings.

    समाहितो सम्पजानो, सतो बुद्धस्स सावको; वेदना च पजानाति, वेदनानञ्च सम्भवं।

    Samāhito sampajāno, sato buddhassa sāvako; Vedanā ca pajānāti, vedanānañca sambhavaṁ.

    Stilled, aware, a mindful disciple of the Buddha understands feelings, the cause of feelings,

    यत्थ चेता निरुज्झन्ति, मग्गञ्च खयगामिनं; वेदनानं खया भिक्खु, निच्छातो परिनिब्बुतो”ति।

    Yattha cetā nirujjhanti, maggañca khayagāminaṁ; Vedanānaṁ khayā bhikkhu, nicchāto parinibbuto”ti.

    where they cease, and the path that leads to their ending. With the ending of feelings, a bhikkhu is hungerless, extinguished.”
