    Selective estrogen receptor modulator

    Pronunciation

    A drug that acts like estrogen on some tissues but blocks the effect of estrogen on other tissues. Tamoxifen and raloxifene are selective estrogen receptor modulators. Also called SERM. (NCI Dictionary)
