Serratia rubidaea
Definition 1
A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram negative, rod shaped bacteria in the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is motile, peritrichous, citrase and esterase positive, decarboxylase negative and can support growth on and produce acid from arabinose, melibiose, rhamnose, sorbitol, and xylose. S. rubidaea is found naturally in plants and pathogenesis is associated with the ingestion of contaminated coconuts or vegetables. (NCI Thesaurus)
