    You Should Associate

    “दसहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो पुग्गलो न सेवितब्बो। कतमेहि दसहि? मिच्छादिट्ठिको होति, मिच्छासङ्कप्पो होति, मिच्छावाचो होति, मिच्छाकम्मन्तो होति, मिच्छाआजीवो होति, मिच्छावायामो होति, मिच्छासति होति, मिच्छासमाधि होति, मिच्छाञाणी होति, मिच्छाविमुत्ति होति—इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, दसहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो पुग्गलो न सेवितब्बो।

    “Dasahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato puggalo na sevitabbo. Katamehi dasahi? Micchādiṭṭhiko hoti, micchāsaṅkappo hoti, micchāvāco hoti, micchākammanto hoti, micchāājīvo hoti, micchāvāyāmo hoti, micchāsati hoti, micchāsamādhi hoti, micchāñāṇī hoti, micchāvimutti hoti—imehi kho, bhikkhave, dasahi dhammehi samannāgato puggalo na sevitabbo.

    “Bhikkhus, you should not associate with a person who has ten qualities. What ten? Wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, wrong immersion, wrong knowledge, and wrong freedom. You should not associate with a person who has these ten qualities.

    दसहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो पुग्गलो सेवितब्बो। कतमेहि दसहि? सम्मादिट्ठिको होति, सम्मासङ्कप्पो होति, सम्मावाचो होति, सम्माकम्मन्तो होति, सम्माआजीवो होति, सम्मावायामो होति, सम्मासति होति, सम्मासमाधि होति, सम्माञाणी होति, सम्माविमुत्ति होति—इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, दसहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो पुग्गलो सेवितब्बो”ति।

    Dasahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato puggalo sevitabbo. Katamehi dasahi? Sammādiṭṭhiko hoti, sammāsaṅkappo hoti, sammāvāco hoti, sammākammanto hoti, sammāājīvo hoti, sammāvāyāmo hoti, sammāsati hoti, sammāsamādhi hoti, sammāñāṇī hoti, sammāvimutti hoti—imehi kho, bhikkhave, dasahi dhammehi samannāgato puggalo sevitabbo”ti.

    You should associate with a person who has ten qualities. What ten? Right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right immersion, right knowledge, and right freedom. You should associate with a person who has these ten qualities.”
