Spindle-cell Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Mouse Skin

A variant of poorly-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma predominantly composed of spindle cells. Attachment to overlying atypical squamous epithelium may be helpful for diagnosis. Spindle cell tumors that arise in UV irradiated or mice treated with topical chemical carcinogens that resemble so-called "fibrosarcoma" are very frequently spindle cell squamous carcinoma.
