    Stage IIA breast cancer

    Definition 1

    Stage II is divided into stages IIA and IIB. In stage IIA, (1) no tumor is found in the breast or the tumor is 2 centimeters or smaller. Cancer (larger than 2 millimeters) is found in 1 to 3 axillary lymph nodes or in the lymph nodes near the breastbone (found during a sentinel lymph node biopsy); or (2) the tumor is larger than 2 centimeters but not larger than 5 centimeters. Cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes. (NCI Dictionary)

    Definition 2

    Stage IIA includes: (T0, N1, M0); (T1, N1, M0); (T2, N0, M0). T0: No evidence of primary tumor. T1: Tumor 20 mm or less in greatest dimension. T1 includes T1mi. T1mi: Tumor 1 mm or less in greatest dimension. T2: Tumor more than 20 mm but not more than 50 mm in greatest dimension. N1: Metastasis to movable ipsilateral level I, II axillary lymph node(s).     Stage II breast cancer is divided into stages IIA and IIB. In stage IIA, (1) no tumor is found in the breast, but cancer is found in the axillary (under the arm) lymph nodes; or (2) the tumor is 2 centimeters or smaller and has spread to the axillary lymph nodes; or (3) the tumor is larger than 2 centimeters but not larger than 5 centimeters and has not spread to the axillary lymph nodes.
