Streptogramin A
Definition 1
A streptomycin A-related cyclic depsipeptide isolated from the bacterium Streptomyces virginiae and other Streptomyces bacterial species. Virginiamycin M1 binds to and inhibits assembly of 50S and 30S ribosomes, thereby preventing protein synthesis. (NCI Thesaurus)
