    Sulfamidochrysoidine

Derived from an azo dye, sulfamidochrysoidine was the first commercially available antibacterial antibiotic. It has broad effects against gram-positive cocci but not against enterobacteria. In the body sulfonamidochrysoidine is metabolized to sulfanilamide, the active form of the drug. (NCI Thesaurus)
