    Topical Calcitriol

A topical formulation containing the hormonally active form of vitamin D3, with potential protective activity against chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA). Upon topical application to the scalp, calcitriol may prevent keratinocyte apoptosis in anagen hair follicles. Therefore, this agent may protect against the damaging effects of certain chemotherapeutics to the hair follicles. (NCI Thesaurus)
