    WHSC1 wt Allele

Human WHSC1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 4p16.3 and is approximately 111 kb in length. This allele, which encodes histone-lysine N-methyltransferase NSD2 protein, plays a role in the induction of protein ubiquitination. A frequently detected t(4;14)(p16.3;q32) translocation in multiple myeloma results in dysregulation of the WHSC1 gene, resulting in the promotion of oncogenic transformation. (NCI Thesaurus)
