    XRCC5 wt Allele

Human XRCC5 wild-type allele is located within 2q35 and is approximately 99 kb in length. This allele, which encodes X-ray repair cross-complementing protein 5, is involved in double-strand break DNA repair and chromosomal translocation. A rare microsatellite polymorphism in this allele is associated with cancer in patients of varying radiosensitivity. (NCI Thesaurus)
