    अनिच्चधम्मसुत्त

    Aniccadhammasutta

    Liable to Impermanence

    सावत्थिनिदानं।

    Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

    At Sāvatthī.

    एकमन्तं निसिन्नो खो आयस्मा राधो भगवन्तं एतदवोच:

    Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho āyasmā rādho bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:

    Seated to one side, Venerable Rādha said to the Buddha:

    “‘अनिच्चधम्मो, अनिच्चधम्मोऽति, भन्ते, वुच्चति। कतमो नु खो, भन्ते, अनिच्चधम्मो”ति?

    “‘aniccadhammo, aniccadhammo’ti, bhante, vuccati. Katamo nu kho, bhante, aniccadhammo”ti?

    “Sir, they speak of this thing called ‘liable to impermanence’. What is liable to impermanence?

    “रूपं खो, राध, अनिच्चधम्मो, वेदना अनिच्चधम्मो, सञ्ञा अनिच्चधम्मो, सङ्खारा अनिच्चधम्मो, विञ्ञाणं अनिच्चधम्मो।

    “Rūpaṁ kho, rādha, aniccadhammo, vedanā aniccadhammo, saññā aniccadhammo, saṅkhārā aniccadhammo, viññāṇaṁ aniccadhammo.

    “Rādha, form, feeling, perception, choices, and consciousness are liable to impermanence.

    एवं पस्सं …पे… नापरं इत्थत्तायाति पजानाती”ति।

    Evaṁ passaṁ …pe… nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti.

    Seeing this … They understand: ‘… there is no return to any state of existence.’”

    चतुत्थं।
