    अनिच्चसुत्त

    Aniccasutta

    Impermanence

    सावत्थिनिदानं।

    Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

    At Sāvatthī.

    “यं, भिक्खवे, अनिच्चं; तत्र वो छन्दो पहातब्बो।

    “Yaṁ, bhikkhave, aniccaṁ; tatra vo chando pahātabbo.

    “Bhikkhus, you should give up desire for what is impermanent.

    किञ्च, भिक्खवे, अनिच्चं? रूपं, भिक्खवे, अनिच्चं; तत्र वो छन्दो पहातब्बो।

    Kiñca, bhikkhave, aniccaṁ? Rūpaṁ, bhikkhave, aniccaṁ; tatra vo chando pahātabbo.

    And what is impermanent? Form is impermanent; you should give up desire for it.

    Consciousness is impermanent; you should give up desire for it.

    यं, भिक्खवे, अनिच्चं; तत्र वो छन्दो पहातब्बो”ति।

    Yaṁ, bhikkhave, aniccaṁ; tatra vo chando pahātabbo”ti.

    You should give up desire for what is impermanent.”
