    अनिच्चसुत्त

    Aniccasutta

    Impermanence

    सावत्थिनिदानं।

    Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

    At Sāvatthī.

    एकमन्तं निसिन्नो खो आयस्मा राधो भगवन्तं एतदवोच:

    Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho āyasmā rādho bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:

    Seated to one side, Venerable Rādha said to the Buddha:

    “‘अनिच्चं, अनिच्चन्ऽति, भन्ते, वुच्चति। कतमं नु खो, भन्ते, अनिच्चन्”ति?

    “‘aniccaṁ, aniccan’ti, bhante, vuccati. Katamaṁ nu kho, bhante, aniccan”ti?

    “Sir, they speak of this thing called ‘impermanence’. What is impermanence?”

    “रूपं खो, राध, अनिच्चं, वेदना अनिच्चा, सञ्ञा अनिच्चा, सङ्खारा अनिच्चा, विञ्ञाणं अनिच्चं।

    “Rūpaṁ kho, rādha, aniccaṁ, vedanā aniccā, saññā aniccā, saṅkhārā aniccā, viññāṇaṁ aniccaṁ.

    “Rādha, form, feeling, perception, choices, and consciousness are impermanent.

    एवं पस्सं …पे… नापरं इत्थत्तायाति पजानाती”ति।

    Evaṁ passaṁ …pe… nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti.

    Seeing this … They understand: ‘… there is no return to any state of existence.’”

    ततियं।
