Ariyasutta
A Noble One
“चत्तारोमे, भिक्खवे, इद्धिपादा भाविता बहुलीकता अरिया निय्यानिका निय्यन्ति तक्करस्स सम्मा दुक्खक्खयाय। कतमे चत्तारो? इध, भिक्खवे, भिक्खु छन्दसमाधिप्पधानसङ्खारसमन्नागतं इद्धिपादं भावेति, वीरियसमाधि …पे… चित्तसमाधि …पे… वीमंसासमाधिप्पधानसङ्खारसमन्नागतं इद्धिपादं भावेति। इमे खो, भिक्खवे, चत्तारो इद्धिपादा भाविता बहुलीकता अरिया निय्यानिका निय्यन्ति तक्करस्स सम्मा दुक्खक्खयाया”ति।
“Cattārome, bhikkhave, iddhipādā bhāvitā bahulīkatā ariyā niyyānikā niyyanti takkarassa sammā dukkhakkhayāya. Katame cattāro? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu chandasamādhippadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṁ iddhipādaṁ bhāveti, vīriyasamādhi …pe… cittasamādhi …pe… vīmaṁsāsamādhippadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṁ iddhipādaṁ bhāveti. Ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro iddhipādā bhāvitā bahulīkatā ariyā niyyānikā niyyanti takkarassa sammā dukkhakkhayāyā”ti.
“Bhikkhus, when these four bases of psychic power are developed and cultivated they are noble and emancipating, and bring one who practices them to the complete ending of suffering. What four? It’s when a bhikkhu develops the basis of psychic power that has immersion due to enthusiasm … energy … mental development … inquiry, and active effort. When these four bases of psychic power are developed and cultivated they are noble and emancipating, and bring one who practices them to the complete ending of suffering.”
