Beaten Down
“केनस्सुब्भाहतो लोको, केनस्सु परिवारितो; केन सल्लेन ओतिण्णो, किस्स धूपायितो सदा”ति।
“Kenassubbhāhato loko, kenassu parivārito; Kena sallena otiṇṇo, kissa dhūpāyito sadā”ti.
“By what is the world beaten down? By what is it surrounded? What dart has laid it low? With what is it always fuming?”
“मच्चुनाब्भाहतो लोको, जराय परिवारितो; तण्हासल्लेन ओतिण्णो, इच्छाधूपायितो सदा”ति।
“Maccunābbhāhato loko, jarāya parivārito; Taṇhāsallena otiṇṇo, icchādhūpāyito sadā”ti.
“The world is beaten down by death. It’s surrounded by old age. The dart of craving has struck it down. It’s always fuming with desire.”
