    Bāhiradukkhasutta

    The Exterior as Suffering

    “रूपा, भिक्खवे, दुक्खा। यं दुक्खं तदनत्ता; यदनत्ता तं ‘नेतं मम, नेसोहमस्मि, न मेसो अत्ताऽति एवमेतं यथाभूतं सम्मप्पञ्ञाय दट्ठब्बं। सद्दा … गन्धा … रसा … फोट्ठब्बा … धम्मा दुक्खा। यं दुक्खं तदनत्ता। यदनत्ता तं ‘नेतं मम, नेसोहमस्मि, न मेसो अत्ताऽति एवमेतं यथाभूतं सम्मप्पञ्ञाय दट्ठब्बं।

    “Rūpā, bhikkhave, dukkhā. Yaṁ dukkhaṁ tadanattā; yadanattā taṁ ‘netaṁ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti evametaṁ yathābhūtaṁ sammappaññāya daṭṭhabbaṁ. Saddā … gandhā … rasā … phoṭṭhabbā … dhammā dukkhā. Yaṁ dukkhaṁ tadanattā. Yadanattā taṁ ‘netaṁ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti evametaṁ yathābhūtaṁ sammappaññāya daṭṭhabbaṁ.

    “Bhikkhus, sights are suffering. What’s suffering is not-self. And what’s not-self should be truly seen with right understanding like this: ‘This is not mine, I am not this, this is not my self.’ …”

    एवं पस्सं …पे… नापरं इत्थत्तायाति पजानाती”ति।

    Evaṁ passaṁ …pe… nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti.
