    The Exterior as Suffering

    “रूपा, भिक्खवे, दुक्खा। सद्दा … गन्धा … रसा … फोट्ठब्बा … धम्मा दुक्खा।

    “Rūpā, bhikkhave, dukkhā. Saddā … gandhā … rasā … phoṭṭhabbā … dhammā dukkhā.

    “Bhikkhus, sights, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, and thoughts are suffering.

    एवं पस्सं …पे… नापरं इत्थत्तायाति पजानाती”ति।

    Evaṁ passaṁ …pe… nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti.

    Seeing this … They understand: ‘… there is no return to any state of existence.’”
