    Without Completely Understanding (2nd)

    “सब्बं, भिक्खवे, अनभिजानं अपरिजानं अविराजयं अप्पजहं अभब्बो दुक्खक्खयाय। किञ्च, भिक्खवे, सब्बं अनभिजानं अपरिजानं अविराजयं अप्पजहं अभब्बो दुक्खक्खयाय?

    “Sabbaṁ, bhikkhave, anabhijānaṁ aparijānaṁ avirājayaṁ appajahaṁ abhabbo dukkhakkhayāya. Kiñca, bhikkhave, sabbaṁ anabhijānaṁ aparijānaṁ avirājayaṁ appajahaṁ abhabbo dukkhakkhayāya?

    “Bhikkhus, without directly knowing and completely understanding the all, without dispassion for it and giving it up, you can’t end suffering. And what is the all, without directly knowing and completely understanding which, without dispassion for it and giving it up, you can’t end suffering?

    यञ्च, भिक्खवे, चक्खु, ये च रूपा, यञ्च चक्खुविञ्ञाणं, ये च चक्खुविञ्ञाणविञ्ञातब्बा धम्मा …पे…

    Yañca, bhikkhave, cakkhu, ye ca rūpā, yañca cakkhuviññāṇaṁ, ye ca cakkhuviññāṇaviññātabbā dhammā …pe…

    The eye, sights, eye consciousness, and things known by eye consciousness.

    या च जिव्हा, ये च रसा, यञ्च जिव्हाविञ्ञाणं, ये च जिव्हाविञ्ञाणविञ्ञातब्बा धम्मा; यो च कायो, ये च फोट्ठब्बा, यञ्च कायविञ्ञाणं, ये च कायविञ्ञाणविञ्ञातब्बा धम्मा;

    yā ca jivhā, ye ca rasā, yañca jivhāviññāṇaṁ, ye ca jivhāviññāṇaviññātabbā dhammā; yo ca kāyo, ye ca phoṭṭhabbā, yañca kāyaviññāṇaṁ, ye ca kāyaviññāṇaviññātabbā dhammā;

    The ear … nose … tongue … body …

    यो च मनो, ये च धम्मा, यञ्च मनोविञ्ञाणं, ये च मनोविञ्ञाणविञ्ञातब्बा धम्मा—

    yo ca mano, ye ca dhammā, yañca manoviññāṇaṁ, ye ca manoviññāṇaviññātabbā dhammā—

    The mind, thoughts, mind consciousness, and things known by mind consciousness.

    इदं खो, भिक्खवे, सब्बं अनभिजानं अपरिजानं अविराजयं अप्पजहं अभब्बो दुक्खक्खयाय।

    idaṁ kho, bhikkhave, sabbaṁ anabhijānaṁ aparijānaṁ avirājayaṁ appajahaṁ abhabbo dukkhakkhayāya.

    This is the all, without directly knowing and completely understanding which, without dispassion for it and giving it up, you can’t end suffering.

    सब्बं, भिक्खवे, अभिजानं परिजानं विराजयं पजहं भब्बो दुक्खक्खयाय। किञ्च, भिक्खवे, सब्बं अभिजानं परिजानं विराजयं पजहं भब्बो दुक्खक्खयाय?

    Sabbaṁ, bhikkhave, abhijānaṁ parijānaṁ virājayaṁ pajahaṁ bhabbo dukkhakkhayāya. Kiñca, bhikkhave, sabbaṁ abhijānaṁ parijānaṁ virājayaṁ pajahaṁ bhabbo dukkhakkhayāya?

    By directly knowing and completely understanding the all, having dispassion for it and giving it up, you can end suffering. And what is the all, directly knowing and completely understanding which, having dispassion for it and giving it up, you can end suffering?

    यञ्च, भिक्खवे, चक्खु, ये च रूपा, यञ्च चक्खुविञ्ञाणं, ये च चक्खुविञ्ञाणविञ्ञातब्बा धम्मा …पे…
