Kinds of Barrenness
“तयोमे, भिक्खवे, खिला। कतमे तयो? रागो खिलो, दोसो खिलो, मोहो खिलो—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, तयो खिला।
“Tayome, bhikkhave, khilā. Katame tayo? Rāgo khilo, doso khilo, moho khilo—ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo khilā.
“Bhikkhus, there are these three kinds of barrenness. What three? Greed, hate, and delusion. These are the three kinds of barrenness.
इमेसं खो, भिक्खवे, तिण्णन्नं खिलानं अभिञ्ञाय परिञ्ञाय परिक्खयाय पहानाय …पे… अयं अरियो अट्ठङ्गिको मग्गो भावेतब्बो”ति।
Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, tiṇṇannaṁ khilānaṁ abhiññāya pariññāya parikkhayāya pahānāya …pe… ayaṁ ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo bhāvetabbo”ti.
The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these three kinds of barrenness.”
