    निद्दातन्दीसुत्त

    Niddātandīsutta

    Sleepiness and Sloth

    “निद्दा तन्दी विजम्भिता, अरती भत्तसम्मदो; एतेन नप्पकासति, अरियमग्गो इध पाणिनन्”ति।

    “Niddā tandī1 vijambhitā, Aratī bhattasammado; Etena nappakāsati, Ariyamaggo idha pāṇinan”ti.

    “Sleepiness, sloth, and yawning, discontent, and grogginess after eating: because of this the noble path doesn’t shine for creatures here.”

    “निद्दं तन्दिं विजम्भितं, अरतिं भत्तसम्मदं; वीरियेन नं पणामेत्वा, अरियमग्गो विसुज्झती”ति।

    “Niddaṁ tandiṁ vijambhitaṁ, Aratiṁ bhattasammadaṁ; Vīriyena2 naṁ paṇāmetvā, Ariyamaggo visujjhatī”ti.

    “Sleepiness, sloth, and yawning, discontent, and grogginess after eating: when this is energetically fended off, the noble path is purified.”
