Katamo ca, bhikkhave, sabbappahānāya dhammo? Cakkhuṁ, bhikkhave, pahātabbaṁ, rūpā pahātabbā, cakkhuviññāṇaṁ pahātabbaṁ, cakkhusamphasso pahātabbo, yampidaṁ cakkhusamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaṁ sukhaṁ vā dukkhaṁ vā adukkhamasukhaṁ vā tampi pahātabbaṁ …pe…
And what is the principle for giving up the all? The eye should be given up. Sights should be given up. Eye consciousness should be given up. Eye contact should be given up. The painful, pleasant, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by eye contact should also be given up.
जिव्हा पहातब्बा, रसा पहातब्बा, जिव्हाविञ्ञाणं पहातब्बं, जिव्हासम्फस्सो पहातब्बो, यम्पिदं जिव्हासम्फस्सपच्चया उप्पज्जति वेदयितं सुखं वा दुक्खं वा अदुक्खमसुखं वा तम्पि पहातब्बं। कायो पहातब्बो … मनो पहातब्बो, धम्मा पहातब्बा, मनोविञ्ञाणं पहातब्बं, मनोसम्फस्सो पहातब्बो, यम्पिदं मनोसम्फस्सपच्चया उप्पज्जति वेदयितं सुखं वा दुक्खं वा अदुक्खमसुखं वा तम्पि पहातब्बं।
jivhā pahātabbā, rasā pahātabbā, jivhāviññāṇaṁ pahātabbaṁ, jivhāsamphasso pahātabbo, yampidaṁ jivhāsamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaṁ sukhaṁ vā dukkhaṁ vā adukkhamasukhaṁ vā tampi pahātabbaṁ. Kāyo pahātabbo … mano pahātabbo, dhammā pahātabbā, manoviññāṇaṁ pahātabbaṁ, manosamphasso pahātabbo, yampidaṁ manosamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaṁ sukhaṁ vā dukkhaṁ vā adukkhamasukhaṁ vā tampi pahātabbaṁ.
The ear … nose … tongue … body … mind should be given up. Thoughts should be given up. Mind consciousness should be given up. Mind contact should be given up. The painful, pleasant, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by mind contact should be given up.
अयं खो, भिक्खवे, सब्बप्पहानाय धम्मो”ति।
Ayaṁ kho, bhikkhave, sabbappahānāya dhammo”ti.
This is the principle for giving up the all.”
