“चत्तारोमे, भिक्खवे, इद्धिपादा। कतमे चत्तारो? इध, भिक्खवे, भिक्खु छन्दसमाधिप्पधानसङ्खारसमन्नागतं इद्धिपादं भावेति, वीरियसमाधि …पे… चित्तसमाधि … वीमंसासमाधिप्पधानसङ्खारसमन्नागतं इद्धिपादं भावेति—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, चत्तारो इद्धिपादा। इमेसं खो, भिक्खवे, चतुन्नं इद्धिपादानं भावितत्ता बहुलीकतत्ता भिक्खुना द्विन्नं फलानं अञ्ञतरं फलं पाटिकङ्खं—दिट्ठेव धम्मे अञ्ञा, सति वा उपादिसेसे अनागामिता”ति।
“Cattārome, bhikkhave, iddhipādā. Katame cattāro? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu chandasamādhippadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṁ iddhipādaṁ bhāveti, vīriyasamādhi …pe… cittasamādhi … vīmaṁsāsamādhippadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṁ iddhipādaṁ bhāveti—ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro iddhipādā. Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, catunnaṁ iddhipādānaṁ bhāvitattā bahulīkatattā bhikkhunā dvinnaṁ phalānaṁ aññataraṁ phalaṁ pāṭikaṅkhaṁ—diṭṭheva dhamme aññā, sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā”ti.
“Bhikkhus, there are these four bases of psychic power. What four? It’s when a bhikkhu develops the basis of psychic power that has immersion due to enthusiasm … energy … mental development … inquiry, and active effort. These are the four bases of psychic power. Because of developing and cultivating these four bases of psychic power, one of two results can be expected: enlightenment in the present life, or if there’s something left over, non-return.”
