    Perception

    सावत्थिनिदानं।

    Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

    At Sāvatthī.

    “रूपसञ्ञा, भिक्खवे, अनिच्चा विपरिणामी अञ्ञथाभावी; सद्दसञ्ञा … गन्धसञ्ञा … रससञ्ञा … फोट्ठब्बसञ्ञा … धम्मसञ्ञा अनिच्चा विपरिणामी अञ्ञथाभावी।

    “Rūpasaññā, bhikkhave, aniccā vipariṇāmī aññathābhāvī; saddasaññā … gandhasaññā … rasasaññā … phoṭṭhabbasaññā … dhammasaññā aniccā vipariṇāmī aññathābhāvī.

    “Bhikkhus, perception of sights is impermanent, decaying, and perishing. Perception of sounds, perception of smells, perception of tastes, perception of touches, and perception of thoughts are impermanent, decaying, and perishing.

    यो, भिक्खवे, इमे धम्मे एवं सद्दहति अधिमुच्चति, अयं वुच्चति ‘सद्धानुसारी …पे… सम्बोधिपरायनोऽ”ति।

    Yo, bhikkhave, ime dhamme evaṁ saddahati adhimuccati, ayaṁ vuccati ‘saddhānusārī …pe… sambodhiparāyano’”ti.

    Someone who has faith and confidence in these principles is called a follower by faith. …”
