    सावत्थियं विहरति।

    Sāvatthiyaṁ viharati.

    At Sāvatthī.

    “तं किं मञ्ञसि, राहुल, रूपा निच्चा वा अनिच्चा वा”ति?

    “Taṁ kiṁ maññasi, rāhula, rūpā niccā vā aniccā vā”ti?

    “What do you think, Rāhula? Are sights permanent or impermanent?”

    “अनिच्चा, भन्ते” …पे… सद्दा … गन्धा … रसा … फोट्ठब्बा … धम्मा निच्चा वा अनिच्चा वा”ति?

    “Aniccā, bhante” …pe… saddā … gandhā … rasā … phoṭṭhabbā … dhammā niccā vā aniccā vā”ti?

    “Impermanent, sir.” … “… sounds … smells … tastes … touches … Are thoughts permanent or impermanent?”

    “अनिच्चा, भन्ते” …

    “Aniccā, bhante” …

    “Impermanent, sir.” …

    “एवं पस्सं, राहुल, सुतवा अरियसावको रूपेसुपि निब्बिन्दति … सद्देसुपि निब्बिन्दति … गन्धेसुपि निब्बिन्दति … रसेसुपि निब्बिन्दति … फोट्ठब्बेसुपि निब्बिन्दति … धम्मेसुपि निब्बिन्दति; निब्बिन्दं विरज्जति …पे… पजानाती”ति।

    “evaṁ passaṁ, rāhula, sutavā ariyasāvako rūpesupi nibbindati … saddesupi nibbindati … gandhesupi nibbindati … rasesupi nibbindati … phoṭṭhabbesupi nibbindati … dhammesupi nibbindati; nibbindaṁ virajjati …pe… pajānātī”ti.

    “Seeing this, a learned noble disciple grows disillusioned with sights, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, and thoughts. Being disillusioned, desire fades away. …”
