    Rūpataṇhāsutta

    Craving For Sights

    सावत्थिनिदानं।

    Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

    At Sāvatthī.

    “रूपतण्हा, भिक्खवे, अनिच्चा विपरिणामी अञ्ञथाभावी; सद्दतण्हा … गन्धतण्हा … रसतण्हा … फोट्ठब्बतण्हा … धम्मतण्हा अनिच्चा विपरिणामी अञ्ञथाभावी।

    “Rūpataṇhā, bhikkhave, aniccā vipariṇāmī aññathābhāvī; saddataṇhā … gandhataṇhā … rasataṇhā … phoṭṭhabbataṇhā … dhammataṇhā aniccā vipariṇāmī aññathābhāvī.

    “Bhikkhus, craving for sights is impermanent, decaying, and perishing. Craving for sounds, craving for smells, craving for tastes, craving for touches, and craving for thoughts are impermanent, decaying, and perishing.

    यो, भिक्खवे, इमे धम्मे एवं सद्दहति अधिमुच्चति, अयं वुच्चति ‘सद्धानुसारी …पे… सम्बोधिपरायनोऽ”ति।

    Yo, bhikkhave, ime dhamme evaṁ saddahati adhimuccati, ayaṁ vuccati ‘saddhānusārī …pe… sambodhiparāyano’”ti.

    Someone who has faith and confidence in these principles is called a follower by faith. …”
