Gods of the Warm Clouds
සාවත්ථිනිදානං.
At Sāvatthī.
ඒකමන්තං නිසින්නෝ ඛෝ සෝ භික්ඛු භගවන්තං ඒතදවෝච:
Seated to one side, that bhikkhu said to the Buddha:
“කෝ නු ඛෝ, භන්තේ, හේතු, කෝ පච්චයෝ, යේනේකදා උණ්හං හෝතී”ති?
“Sir, what is the cause, what is the reason why sometimes it becomes warm?”
“සන්ති, භික්ඛු, උණ්හවලාහකා නාම දේවා. තේසං යදා ඒවං හෝති: ‘යන්නූන මයං සකාය රතියා වසේය්යාමා(අ)ති, තේසං තං චේතෝපණිධිමන්වාය උණ්හං හෝති. අයං ඛෝ, භික්ඛු, හේතු, අයං පච්චයෝ, යේනේකදා උණ්හං හෝතී”ති.
“Bhikkhu, there are what are called gods of the warm clouds. Sometimes they think: ‘Why don’t we revel in our own kind of enjoyment?’ Then, in accordance with their wish, it becomes warm. This is the cause, this is the reason why sometimes it becomes warm.”
චතුපඤ්ඤාසමං.
