Deviation
“किंसु उप्पथो अक्खातो, किंसु रत्तिन्दिवक्खयो; किं मलं ब्रह्मचरियस्स, किं सिनानमनोदकन्”ति।
“Kiṁsu uppatho akkhāto, kiṁsu rattindivakkhayo; Kiṁ malaṁ brahmacariyassa, kiṁ sinānamanodakan”ti.
“What’s declared to be a deviation? What is ending day and night? What’s the stain of celibacy? What’s the waterless bath?”
“रागो उप्पथो अक्खातो, वयो रत्तिन्दिवक्खयो; इत्थी मलं ब्रह्मचरियस्स, एत्थायं सज्जते पजा; तपो च ब्रह्मचरियञ्च, तं सिनानमनोदकन्”ति।
“Rāgo uppatho akkhāto, Vayo rattindivakkhayo; Itthī malaṁ brahmacariyassa, Etthāyaṁ sajjate pajā; Tapo ca brahmacariyañca, Taṁ sinānamanodakan”ti.
“Lust is declared to be a deviation. Youth is ending day and night. Women are the stain of celibacy, to which this generation clings. Fervor and celibacy are the waterless bath.”
