Gods of the Windy Clouds
සාවත්ථිනිදානං.
At Sāvatthī.
ඒකමන්තං නිසින්නෝ ඛෝ සෝ භික්ඛු භගවන්තං ඒතදවෝච:
Seated to one side, that bhikkhu said to the Buddha:
“කෝ නු ඛෝ, භන්තේ, හේතු, කෝ පච්චයෝ, යේනේකදා වාතෝ හෝතී”ති?
“Sir, what is the cause, what is the reason why sometimes it becomes windy?”
“සන්ති, භික්ඛු, වාතවලාහකා නාම දේවා. තේසං යදා ඒවං හෝති: ‘යන්නූන මයං සකාය රතියා වසේය්යාමා(අ)ති, තේසං තං චේතෝපණිධිමන්වාය වාතෝ හෝති. අයං ඛෝ, භික්ඛු, හේතු, අයං පච්චයෝ, යේනේකදා වාතෝ හෝතී”ති. ඡප්පඤ්ඤාසමං.
“Bhikkhu, there are what are called gods of the windy clouds. Sometimes they think: ‘Why don’t we revel in our own kind of enjoyment?’ Then, in accordance with their wish, it becomes windy. This is the cause, this is the reason why sometimes it becomes windy.”
