    Viññāṇasutta

    Consciousness

    सावत्थिनिदानं।

    Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

    At Sāvatthī.

    “चक्खुविञ्ञाणं, भिक्खवे, अनिच्चं विपरिणामि अञ्ञथाभावि; सोतविञ्ञाणं … घानविञ्ञाणं … जिव्हाविञ्ञाणं … कायविञ्ञाणं … मनोविञ्ञाणं अनिच्चं विपरिणामि अञ्ञथाभावि।

    “Cakkhuviññāṇaṁ, bhikkhave, aniccaṁ vipariṇāmi aññathābhāvi; sotaviññāṇaṁ … ghānaviññāṇaṁ … jivhāviññāṇaṁ … kāyaviññāṇaṁ … manoviññāṇaṁ aniccaṁ vipariṇāmi aññathābhāvi.

    “Bhikkhus, eye consciousness is impermanent, decaying, and perishing. Ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness are impermanent, decaying, and perishing.

    यो भिक्खवे …पे… सम्बोधिपरायनो”ति।

    Yo bhikkhave …pe… sambodhiparāyano”ti.

    Someone who has faith and confidence in these principles is called a follower by faith. …”
