BCAS3 wt Allele
Human BCAS3 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 17q23 and is approximately 715 kb in length. This allele, which encodes breast carcinoma amplified sequence 3 protein, may play a role in the cellular response to estrogen. The occurrence of some breast cancers is linked to either aberrant expression of the gene or a chromosomal translocation t(17;20)(q23;q13), which causes the fusion of this gene and the BCAS4 gene.
