Benign Schwannoma
Definition 1
A slowly growing, benign, usually encapsulated tumor, composed of neoplastic differentiated Schwann cells. Although it can affect any age, it is more commonly seen in the fourth to sixth decades of life. It usually occurs in the peripheral nerves of the head and neck regions and the extensor aspects of the extremities. It rarely undergoes malignant transformation. (NCI Thesaurus)
