Chromosome Territory
The physical volume occupied by a specific chromosome in the interphase nucleus. The territories from distinct chromosomes do not appear to overlap, preventing an intermingling of the decondensed chromatin. Relative to a nuclear landmark (e.g. nucleolus), chromosome territories appear to differ from cell to cell. (NCI Thesaurus)
