Duccaritavipākasutta
The Results of Misconduct
“पाणातिपातो, भिक्खवे, आसेवितो भावितो बहुलीकतो निरयसंवत्तनिको तिरच्छानयोनिसंवत्तनिको पेत्तिविसयसंवत्तनिको। यो सब्बलहुसो पाणातिपातस्स विपाको, मनुस्सभूतस्स अप्पायुकसंवत्तनिको होति।
“Pāṇātipāto, bhikkhave, āsevito bhāvito bahulīkato nirayasaṁvattaniko tiracchānayonisaṁvattaniko pettivisayasaṁvattaniko. Yo sabbalahuso1 pāṇātipātassa vipāko, manussabhūtassa appāyukasaṁvattaniko hoti.
“Bhikkhus, the killing of living creatures, when cultivated, developed, and practiced, leads to hell, the animal realm, or the ghost realm. The minimum result it leads to for a human being is a short life span.
अदिन्नादानं, भिक्खवे, आसेवितं भावितं बहुलीकतं निरयसंवत्तनिकं तिरच्छानयोनिसंवत्तनिकं पेत्तिविसयसंवत्तनिकं। यो सब्बलहुसो अदिन्नादानस्स विपाको, मनुस्सभूतस्स भोगब्यसनसंवत्तनिको होति।
Adinnādānaṁ, bhikkhave, āsevitaṁ bhāvitaṁ bahulīkataṁ nirayasaṁvattanikaṁ tiracchānayonisaṁvattanikaṁ pettivisayasaṁvattanikaṁ. Yo sabbalahuso adinnādānassa vipāko, manussabhūtassa bhogabyasanasaṁvattaniko hoti.
Stealing, when cultivated, developed, and practiced, leads to hell, the animal realm, or the ghost realm. The minimum result it leads to for a human being is loss of wealth.
कामेसुमिच्छाचारो, भिक्खवे, आसेवितो भावितो बहुलीकतो निरयसंवत्तनिको तिरच्छानयोनिसंवत्तनिको पेत्तिविसयसंवत्तनिको। यो सब्बलहुसो कामेसुमिच्छाचारस्स विपाको, मनुस्सभूतस्स सपत्तवेरसंवत्तनिको होति।
Kāmesumicchācāro, bhikkhave, āsevito bhāvito bahulīkato nirayasaṁvattaniko tiracchānayonisaṁvattaniko pettivisayasaṁvattaniko. Yo sabbalahuso kāmesumicchācārassa vipāko, manussabhūtassa sapattaverasaṁvattaniko hoti.
Sexual misconduct, when cultivated, developed, and practiced, leads to hell, the animal realm, or the ghost realm. The minimum result it leads to for a human being is rivalry and enmity.
मुसावादो, भिक्खवे, आसेवितो भावितो बहुलीकतो निरयसंवत्तनिको तिरच्छानयोनिसंवत्तनिको पेत्तिविसयसंवत्तनिको। यो सब्बलहुसो मुसावादस्स विपाको, मनुस्सभूतस्स अभूतब्भक्खानसंवत्तनिको होति।
Musāvādo, bhikkhave, āsevito bhāvito bahulīkato nirayasaṁvattaniko tiracchānayonisaṁvattaniko pettivisayasaṁvattaniko. Yo sabbalahuso musāvādassa vipāko, manussabhūtassa abhūtabbhakkhānasaṁvattaniko hoti.
Lying, when cultivated, developed, and practiced, leads to hell, the animal realm, or the ghost realm. The minimum result it leads to for a human being is false accusations.
पिसुणा, भिक्खवे, वाचा आसेविता भाविता बहुलीकता निरयसंवत्तनिका तिरच्छानयोनिसंवत्तनिका पेत्तिविसयसंवत्तनिका। यो सब्बलहुसो पिसुणाय वाचाय विपाको, मनुस्सभूतस्स मित्तेहि भेदनसंवत्तनिको होति।
Pisuṇā, bhikkhave, vācā āsevitā bhāvitā bahulīkatā nirayasaṁvattanikā tiracchānayonisaṁvattanikā pettivisayasaṁvattanikā. Yo sabbalahuso pisuṇāya vācāya vipāko, manussabhūtassa mittehi bhedanasaṁvattaniko hoti.
Divisive speech, when cultivated, developed, and practiced, leads to hell, the animal realm, or the ghost realm. The minimum result it leads to for a human being is being divided against friends.
फरुसा, भिक्खवे, वाचा आसेविता भाविता बहुलीकता निरयसंवत्तनिका तिरच्छानयोनिसंवत्तनिका पेत्तिविसयसंवत्तनिका। यो सब्बलहुसो फरुसाय वाचाय विपाको, मनुस्सभूतस्स अमनापसद्दसंवत्तनिको होति।
Pharusā, bhikkhave, vācā āsevitā bhāvitā bahulīkatā nirayasaṁvattanikā tiracchānayonisaṁvattanikā pettivisayasaṁvattanikā. Yo sabbalahuso pharusāya vācāya vipāko, manussabhūtassa amanāpasaddasaṁvattaniko hoti.
Harsh speech, when cultivated, developed, and practiced, leads to hell, the animal realm, or the ghost realm. The minimum result it leads to for a human being is hearing disagreeable things.
सम्फप्पलापो, भिक्खवे, आसेवितो भावितो बहुलीकतो निरयसंवत्तनिको तिरच्छानयोनिसंवत्तनिको पेत्तिविसयसंवत्तनिको। यो सब्बलहुसो सम्फप्पलापस्स विपाको, मनुस्सभूतस्स अनादेय्यवाचासंवत्तनिको होति।
Samphappalāpo, bhikkhave, āsevito bhāvito bahulīkato nirayasaṁvattaniko tiracchānayonisaṁvattaniko pettivisayasaṁvattaniko. Yo sabbalahuso samphappalāpassa vipāko, manussabhūtassa anādeyyavācāsaṁvattaniko hoti.
Talking nonsense, when cultivated, developed, and practiced, leads to hell, the animal realm, or the ghost realm. The minimum result it leads to for a human being is that no-one takes what you say seriously.
सुरामेरयपानं, भिक्खवे, आसेवितं भावितं बहुलीकतं निरयसंवत्तनिकं तिरच्छानयोनिसंवत्तनिकं पेत्तिविसयसंवत्तनिकं। यो सब्बलहुसो सुरामेरयपानस्स विपाको, मनुस्सभूतस्स उम्मत्तकसंवत्तनिको होती”ति।
Surāmerayapānaṁ, bhikkhave, āsevitaṁ bhāvitaṁ bahulīkataṁ nirayasaṁvattanikaṁ tiracchānayonisaṁvattanikaṁ pettivisayasaṁvattanikaṁ. Yo sabbalahuso surāmerayapānassa vipāko, manussabhūtassa ummattakasaṁvattaniko hotī”ti.
Taking alcoholic drinks that cause negligence, when cultivated, developed, and practiced, leads to hell, the animal realm, or the ghost realm. The minimum result it leads to for a human being is madness.”

Tassuddānaṁ
द्वे दानानि वत्थुञ्च, खेत्तं दानूपपत्तियो; किरियं द्वे सप्पुरिसा, अभिसन्दो विपाको चाति।
Dve dānāni vatthuñca, khettaṁ dānūpapattiyo; Kiriyaṁ dve sappurisā, abhisando vipāko cāti.
